Default Marriage and character gender

I was wondering if GW allowed marriage of characters to other player's characters or NPCs would that have an effect on which gender you chose for your main (or other chars for that matter)?

I could be completely wrong but I get the impression that GW is a male dominated game but with a female dominated character base. As the characters are basically asexual with only differing aesthetics it doesn't really matter what sex your char is. Personally, I have a 50/50 split. I find many of the female armours are far better than the male equivalents. I think the male/female split wouldn't be the same if my chars could marry.

In games that do allow marriage I find my chars tend to be male, lesbians or happy to remain single. I did have a male mage in Dragon Age that was bi. It just seemed to suit him for some reason. I've never had a player-player marriage. It'd be odd for me if the char was a different sex to the player.

So, to the questions:
1) Would ingame marriage change your gender choice for your characters?
2) Would you prefer player-NPC marriages or player-player marriages?
3) Or would you prefer it not to be a feature at all and to stay as it is?

I don't see my chars as an avatar of me. I see the game as a story that I'm directing. Being straight, though, a gay char would make immersion into the game a little more difficult. Not impossible, just less intuitive.

No, I don't like the idea of marriage in mmo's, I just don't think it fits in.

Guild Wars has no officially sanctioned concept of marriage, and thus has no real issue of gender with regards to it.

I'm sure there's some users/guilds that go for that, and they likely make their own rules. So, if you're interested in such things, find the people you're playing with, and figure it out.

If you're not deeply interested in it, you can play all you want without a care about in game marriage.

It can from a Roleplaying standpoint, though if it's an RP tool then really it's not necessary anyways.

Do people actually RP at all in guild wars? Never seen it here.

I *think* they were talking about it in guild wars 2. But, as for guild wars 1, we don't have it here.
